Laurie Malvern, Account Manager

What do you do at PMI and how long have you been there?
I joined PMI in October, 2007 because it was the kind of environment where I could work with others that wanted to positively impact brands and businesses. The team is young and eager to put their energies into programs that will make a difference.
What is your experience prior to joining PMI?
My marketing experience spans some 20 plus years with concentration in sales promotion, advertising, media, events, and new product development. I've been on both sides of the table as a client and representing agencies. Nestle' Purina: Purina ONE, Beech-Nut Baby Food, Nescafe' Taster's Choice, Hostess Cakes and Wonder Bread, Seven-Up Bottling COmpany, Miller Brewing Company, Crayola, G.L.O.W. to name a few.
What is your favorite PMI Core Value?
The Core Values are just that. Everything that we do as a company, spins out of or is woven into every step of our work. We are only as good as our words and actions. I tend to think that "Reputation Before Revenue" is the guiding force in how I present our company. So many times our people are simply an extension of a marketing department for a client. We are the force that meets the public and we are the brand. It is our responsibility to make the right impression and live the value. If we do the right things, the revenue will follow.
So, do you have a life outside of PMI?
Much of my free time is spent as a spectator of kid's volleyball, softball, soccer, basketball and ballet. My kids and I also share a ton of time in the kitchen experimenting with recipes or creating arts and crafts masterpieces.
What is your favorite quote?
"Hope is not a plan." Credited to Anderson Cooper.

I have always been a planner, a stickler for details and quick to adjust to situations when there are extenuating circumstances. In the last ten years I have learned that imparting the importance of a plan and a contingency is the best foundation for my children and to those with whom I work.
What are you most proud of professionally?
I have been honored with working on some tremendous brands. It has been my good fortune to learn from some great marketing minds and I have had the pleasure of doing business with folks who really employ a work ethic that is similar to mine. Being associated with those people and the brands make me proud.
What are you most proud of personally?
My two daughters are my reason for being.
